Nothing is so Loud

This week we had to take the audio from the last blog post and alter it in rhythm, pitch, tempo, mood, etc. The goal is to reform the sound. In reforming the sound, I wanted to fulfill my wish from the first time I read the text. What was my wish? To stop reading by finishing. Thus, I started my audio at the end, the very last line. Starting at the end, I worked my way forward. So take a listen, but stay until the end to reach the beginning.
There is no linear structure to the original written work in my opinion. So if the words were puzzle pieces, then jumbling up the order of the pieces would always result in the same perfect picture no matter what. The pieces will always fit, because their location isn't significant.
Switching gears, let me tell you a bit about my impulses in manipulating this audio. I wanted to highlight the dichotomy of a nothingness which brings both peace as well as frustration. In the beginning of this audio, it has the feel of being lulled to sleep with "Silent Night" playing. But the nothingness that follows is nowhere near silent. Whenever a point is about to be made, there is an interruption. Never getting to hear a point made, yet also never getting to fully get a grasp of the interruptions either. The listener does not learn who arrives after hearing the doorbell nor do they know who called after the phone rings. It's frustrating if you think too hard, but if you just let go you might just find some pleasure in it.
